‘Visible Muscles’ are the muscles that visually important, the muscles that make a visual impact. Having a low body fat percentage is also important. If you have fat covering up your muscles, you can’t see anything.
Most workouts are completely counter-productive because it wastes your time developing muscles that aren’t visually important. To get ripped fast, you should focus on developing ‘Visible Muscles’ and getting a low body fat percentage to show off those muscles.
We all know about the physical transformations that Hollywood actors go through. They get ripped in a very short time. Most resources claim that this kind of growth is impossible, that it would take years to get that kind of results. But, it never takes the actors ‘years’, it only takes them a few months. Another interesting thing is that these actors are what they call ‘hardgainers’. They have an ectomorphic body type (naturally skinny), which makes gaining muscle even harder.
So how did they do it?
They focussed on developing the Visible Muscles that we just talked about.
So what are the ‘Visible Muscles’?
Abs, Shoulders, Arms, Chest, Calves, Quads…that’s it.
These muscles only make up 20 percent of your entire muscle mass. However, this subset of muscles make up 80 percent of your perceived muscle size. This small subset of muscles are what makes you look ripped when they are developed properly.
Take a look at the picture below of Ryan Reynolds. He is ripped by most people’s standards.
When you look closer, you will notice that this ripped look is created by having well developed abs, chest, shoulders and arms.

The abs are defined with a tapering waist. Having a ‘bloated’ mid-section ruins the look:
The shoulders are roughly 1.62 times the size of your waist.
The chest has emphasis on width, which integrates with the shoulders. This creates a ‘chest plate’ look.
The biceps and triceps make up the upper arm. The arm is equal in width to the shoulders from the side. Emphasis on bicep development.
How To Get Ripped Fast With The Right Workout
Most guys work aimlessly trying to get ripped and they never get anywhere. It’s because they don’t have the specifics. Now you have the exact outcome to aim for, one that is tangible and measurable.
The next step is to follow a training method that will get you the specific results that we just talked about.
A 3×5 routine is for ‘Strength Training’, the focus is on building more strength. Most of the fast mass building programs out there will make you gain a lot of fat. We just want more lean and visible muscle.
The key making your muscles grow bigger is ‘cumulative fatigue’. You get this by lifting lower weights at higher repetitions.
When you are working a muscle group, you should be able to feel that muscle working. The muscle should feel like it’s been ‘pumped’ after the workout, it should feel like your skin is tight around your muscles. You should feel ‘the burn’ on the last couple of repetitions. There needs to be that intensity during workouts. All of this needs to be done while keeping great form.
Designing Your Workout
Workout too frequently and your body won’t have a chance to recover. Your muscles grow bigger when they recover from being worked out. Workout too infrequently and you won’t grow. I think that working out 4-6 times a week is perfect.
